Position summary
What this role covers
Lead the trucking department — dispatch, driver hiring, safety/compliance, maintenance, and team leadership across shuttle, regional, and drayage operations. Primary liaison to the in-house logistics team (~90% in-house freight, ~10% headhaul/backhaul sourcing). Key role in building out the 2027 OTR expansion, including company driver and owner-operator recruitment.

Responsibilities
- Manage daily dispatch across all driver groups
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard drivers
- Own the safety program: FMCSA/DOT compliance, safety meetings, incident and accident investigation, claims coordination
- Oversee ELD/digital logs and HOS compliance
- Ensure daily DVIRs are completed fleet-wide
- Review and approve driver payroll
- Schedule and oversee tractor and trailer maintenance
- Manage the fuel program
- Oversee IFTA reporting and IRP registration compliance
- Maintain carrier and insurance compliance; manage CSA scores
- Build and maintain driver scorecards; coach drivers on performance
- Make equipment purchasing recommendations
- Develop SOPs and departmental policies
- Lead, coach, and manage performance of the driver team
- Coordinate load planning/scheduling with logistics
- Source headhaul/backhaul loads via outside brokers when needed (~10% of volume)
- Recruit owner-operators as the OTR division expands in 2027
Qualifications
- Prior fleet/dispatch management experience
- Track record hiring and retaining CDL drivers
- Strong FMCSA/DOT and ELD knowledge
- Experience with fleet maintenance, IFTA/IRP compliance, and carrier insurance requirements
- Team leadership experience, ideally driver-heavy environment
- Fleet-scaling experience preferred (2027 OTR expansion)

Compensation
- $80,000-$120,000 per year
- Annual performance review and bonus
