Position summary

What this role covers

Operate a late-model automatic day cab tractor performing local intermodal drayage — moving containers to/from container depots and rail ramps. Distinct role requiring chassis, drop-and-hook, and rail terminal experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-trip/post-trip DVIR on tractor, chassis, and container
  • Operate ELD/digital logging system per FMCSA regulations
  • Transport containers between rail ramps, depots, and facilities
  • Perform drop-and-hook and live-load/unload moves as required
  • Inspect chassis and container connections (twist locks, air/electrical lines)
  • Comply with security/safety protocols at rail ramps and depots
  • Maintain documentation (interchange reports, EIRs, BOLs)
  • Report safety concerns immediately

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL-A license in good standing
  • Verifiable intermodal drayage/container hauling experience required
  • Experience working at Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern rail terminals preferred
  • TWIC card preferred; candidates without one must be willing and able to obtain it shortly after hire
  • Chassis inspection and container securement experience
  • Clean MVR; current DOT medical certification

  • $35-$43 per hour · OT eligible
