Position summary

What this role covers

Operate a late-model automatic day cab tractor on scheduled round-trip runs between company facilities in the St. Louis area and regional freight markets, in 53-ft van trailers. Requires strong HOS trip-planning skills, as several markets approach max daily drive-time limits.

  • Kansas City, MO — approx. 250 miles — comfortable same-day round trip
  • Memphis, TN — approx. 285 miles — tight, approaches drive-time limit
  • Louisville, KY — approx. 260 miles — comfortable same-day round trip
  • Indianapolis, IN — approx. 240 miles — comfortable same-day round trip
  • Nashville, TN — approx. 305 miles — borderline, may require early departure/late return

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip DVIR
  • Operate ELD/digital logging system per FMCSA regulations
  • Transport loaded/empty 53-ft van trailers on scheduled round trips, primarily drop-and-hook
  • Communicate proactively with dispatch on delays/issues
  • Maintain accurate BOLs/PODs
  • Adhere to all HOS regulations
  • Report safety concerns immediately

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL-A license in good standing
  • Minimum 4 years of verifiable experience
  • Comfortable planning trips to maximize available Hours of Service
  • Clean MVR; current DOT medical certification
  • Experience with ELD systems
  • Reliable, able to meet early-morning departures

  • $35-$40 per hour · OT eligible
